Junior Rugby

Each year during March, the club runs a series of weigh-in events for Junior Rugby, all players must attend these events, and be weighed by club or WCJR (12th and 13th Grade) officals. New Players must bring proof of age, either a passport or birth Certificate, if ID isn't presented you will be asked to come back to another weigh-in session.

You can pay at either of the Weigh-in events. Yes, after grading is complete the draw for the season will be on Rugby Xplorer. Note: There maybe changes during the season for teams that need future calibration.

You get to meet all the Parents and Players for your team. Each team to appoint a Manager, Coach, and Assistant Coach(s) for the Team. Confirm your training days and time. Review the Code of Conduct. Managers and Coach's to collect gear bags from clubrooms for their teams. Note: Junior rugby in the Waikato is built on the generosity of volunteers. When you give your time, you’re not just helping run a team, you’re shaping young lives, building confidence, and strengthening our community. Consider getting involved, the rewards are often far greater than you expect.

All junior grades must weigh-in. Age is taken at the 1st April 2026, as per WCJR regulations and round down to the nearest whole number

Once Weigh-In has been completed and registrations are closed for the year, we run a Muster event where you get to meet you team. This is generally held in April.

You will need to buy Socks and Shorts. - The Socks can be purchased directly from the Club, we will be selling these at weigh-in or can be purchased from behind the bar. - Shorts can be purchased from our online store, these aren't compulsory, you can wear plain black shorts if you like.

Yes, boots can be purchased from most sporting stores (Rebel Sports), or look on Facebook Marketplace for a second hand pair, these have often only be used for a single season as, kids grow out of them quick.

Mouthguards must be worn at all practices and games. The club will provided a single mouth guard, but if your child has dental issues, we recommend getting a custom fitted mouth guard from your dentist. Parents are welcome to purchases mouth guards from the local chemist as well.

Yes, Suburbs has a confidential complaints process, you can email your concerns to complaints@suburbs.co.nz. A member of the Suburbs complaints committee will be in contact to discuss the issue further.

Yes, we take Player, Coaches, Managers, and Parents Conduct very seriously. Please review our Code of Conduct.

Yes, Suburbs Junior Committee and our Rugby Development officer will provide support and training to new Coaches. NZR does require all Junior coaches to attend the Small Blacks training course for ACC Compliance reasons, The Junior Committee will let you know when these training course will be running.

Fields may close due to wet conditions to ensure they are in good condition for game days. Closure notifications will be posted on the Suburbs Community Sports Club Facebook page by 3 PM. If closed, teams can train elsewhere or use the vacant land behind the club (no lighting available).

Yes, Suburbs will again host Friday Night Footy. Priority will be given to Suburbs teams playing each other, with a limit of 4-5 games per evening. Hot food provided for kids (team prepayment required before game night). Bar & kitchen is open for whanau and supporters to enjoy
